Two titles published by North River Press are among the 2012 International Book Awards winners announced by JPX Media Group in Los Angeles, California, on May 23, 2012. Both titles are from our Social Thinking Books division.
Socially Curious, Curiously Social is the winner of the IBA’s Children’s Mind/Body/Spirit category. Co-authored by Michelle Garcia Winner and Pamela Crooke, this anime-illustrated guidebook is written for teens and young adults to learn how the social mind is expected to work in order to effectively relate to others at school, at work, in the community and even at home. Socially Curious, Curiously Social was also named a finalist in the Awards’ Youth Issues category.
Social Thinking at Work, another title co-authored by Garcia Winner and Crooke, was named a finalist in the Best New Self-Help and Self-Help General categories. In this groundbreaking book, the authors describe the inner workings of the social mind in the workplace and decode the hidden rules of the social world by explaining how we think about our own, as well as other people’s thoughts and emotions.
